In the electrifying nexus of Guangzhou’s Tianhe District—where silicon dreams meet the skies—a revolutionary hub for tomorrow’s flight is taking wing: the Yi Qiao Innovation Center. Backed by EHang’s pioneering spirit in autonomous aerial vehicles, this 23,000㎡ tech fortress is more than an R&D powerhouse; it’s a launchpad for the low-altitude economy, blending UAV research, eVTOL testing, and futuristic applications under one sleek roof. As Guangdong Hongyu Lighting Engineering Construction Co., Ltd., we were exhilarated to design its architectural illumination, channeling light to evoke the precision and propulsion of flight—transforming concrete and steel into a nocturnal symbol of aerial ambition.Design Concept: Aerial Ascent in Light
Mirroring the center’s mission to redefine urban skies, our lighting narrative captures “dynamic lift-off”: a symphony of illumination that propels the eye upward, much like an eVTOL in ascent.

- Podium Ignition – “Innovation Threshold”: The entry-level labs and collaborative zones glow with adaptive 3000K warm-linear accents, subtly pulsing to simulate drone swarm coordination. Interactive media facades on the ground floor display real-time UAV simulations, illuminated by RGBW strips that shift hues from dawn blues to evening ambers, drawing innovators and visitors into a immersive tech ecosystem.
- Tower Trajectory – “Vertical Thrust”: Vertical grazing lights climb the multi-story facade in crisp 4000K beams, tracing structural ribs to mimic wingspan extensions and airflow dynamics. Programmable nodes allow for event-mode activations, such as synchronized light shows celebrating test flights or low-altitude milestones.
- Crown Horizon – “Skyward Beacon”: The rooftop helipad and observation deck crown the complex with focused, tunable spotlights forming a luminous “halo” visible from afar—synced to weather data for safe night operations, ensuring the center stands as a guiding star for Guangzhou’s burgeoning drone corridor.
This 500-million-yuan endeavor isn’t just building structures; it’s forging pathways for safer, smarter skies, and our lighting amplifies that vision—efficient, scalable, and ready for the 2025 operational surge.Technical Flight Plan
- Strategic placement of 1,500+ high-lumen LED linear washers and intelligent projectors, achieving 140–210 lx uniformity with zero dark spots for 24/7 R&D visibility.
- DMX512 ecosystem with 11 flight-inspired scenes (research mode, launch events, eco-dusk dimming), integrated with IoT sensors for 38% energy efficiency amid Tianhe’s humid tropics—fully compliant with aviation-grade safety standards.
- Ultra-high CRI (>97) optics for precise color rendering in testing bays, IP67 enclosures against rain-swept runways, and AI-driven diagnostics for seamless scalability as UAV prototypes evolve.
- Sustainable backbone: Solar-synced controls and recyclable fixtures align with EHang’s green aviation ethos, minimizing carbon lift during construction’s final phases.
As night cloaks Tianhe, the Yi Qiao Innovation Center ignites—not with fleeting sparks, but with enduring beams that propel ideas skyward. From underground engineering triumphs to the 2025 topping-out, this illuminated beacon heralds Guangzhou’s leap into autonomous flight, where every glow whispers: the future is airborne. At Guangdong Hongyu Lighting Engineering Construction Co., Ltd., we don’t just light buildings; we launch legacies into the night.Project: Yi Qiao Innovation Center UAV Tech Illumination
