In 2016, the deepening design and construction of the facade lighting project of Guangzhou Baosteel Tower won the Luban Award.
The project is located in Block A13 of the Pazhou Headquarters Economic Zone in Haizhu District, Guangzhou. It is bordered by West Second Road to the north, Haizhou Road to the east, Pizhou Avenue to the south, and a planned road to the west. The construction unit is Guangdong Baosteel Real Estate Co., Ltd., with a total construction area of approximately 147,000 square meters, including three basement levels, a three-story commercial podium (height of 24.150 meters), and a 29-story tower (height of 148.650 meters), with a total building height of 149.500 meters. The project functions as a large-scale commercial office building, with a small amount of commercial and exhibition functions.
The design of Baosteel Tower is simple and straightforward, yet it contains subtle elements – when viewed from the side, the building appears in a Z shape; when viewed from the front, the building seems to lean forward simply; as people approach slowly, the building appears to be suspended in mid-air. Guangdong Baosteel Tower is a perfect embodiment of paradox and harmony between rigidity and flexibility.
