A New Nighttime Landmark: Floodlighting Design for Zhongjiao Yunwan Court Commercial Complex
Published: November 2025 When dusk falls over the city, a brand-new commercial complex in the heart of the district quietly lights up, instantly becoming the most eye-catching nighttime landmark in the area. This is the floodlighting project we proudly completed for Zhongjiao Yunwan Court Buildings 37-42 Commercial Area and Metro Link Bridge.Project Overview
Located directly above the metro station, this large-scale commercial complex integrates retail streets, dining zones, leisure plazas, and a seamless metro connection corridor. The total façade length exceeds 400 meters, with a height variation of nearly 30 meters. Our mission was to use architectural floodlighting to highlight the modern lines of the building, enhance commercial vibrancy, and create a warm, inviting atmosphere for night-time visitors.Design Concept: “Light Ribbon · Urban Living Room”
We adopted a “horizontal light ribbon + vertical breathing light” strategy:
- Warm-white linear washing on the roof cornice and main structural lines creates a continuous glowing crown that outlines the building volume from afar.
- Subtle color-temperature transitions (3000K–4000K) on the lower commercial façades make shop signs pop while maintaining visual comfort for pedestrians.
- The metro link bridge is treated with soft upward grazing light, forming a luminous “bridge of light” that naturally guides passengers from underground to the commercial plaza.
- Seasonal interactive installations (the glowing reindeer and ground star lights you see in the render) will be retained during winter and major holidays to boost festive foot traffic.
Technical Highlights
- All fixtures are high-efficiency 4000K narrow-beam LED floodlights and linear washers with anti-glare shields, achieving an average façade illuminance of 150–250 lx while keeping light spill under strict urban night-sky regulations.
- DMX512 intelligent control system enables 8 preset scenes (daily, weekend, holiday, energy-saving mode, etc.) and allows real-time brightness adjustment based on ambient light sensors.
- Every luminaire is IP66-rated and equipped with 10 kV surge protection, ensuring stable operation throughout the year.
The Result
From 19:00 to 22:00 every night, the entire complex transforms into a glowing urban living room. Whether commuters emerging from the metro or families enjoying dinner and shopping, everyone is greeted by comfortable, layered lighting that perfectly balances commercial appeal with human-scale warmth.This project is more than just illumination; it is a new nighttime business card for the district.
